Founded in 1775, Glenturret, which as originally called Hosh Distillery, is the oldest distillery in Scotland. It produces a single malt destined primarily for the famous blended scotch Famous Grouse. Distilled on 23 June 1988, this version wonderfully embodies the deliciously herbaceous, abundantly fruity and deeply malty character of this south Highland whisky. Original in more than one way, it overflows with unusual flavours and aromas that are perfectly integrated into the rest of the palette.
Profile: the fresh and heady initial nose is mentholated, fruity (melon) and medicinal (balm). It then develops a more rustic register (dandelion). The fragrant attack is covered in a thin layer of caramel. The mid-palate is exotic (mango, pineapple), spicy (saffron) and aquatic (water lotus). The fleshy finish is resinous (pine) and also exotic (mango). The end of the palate is mentholated. Single Cask no. 532 – Hogshead.
